Kujawiak is a Polish folk dance, originating from Kujawy. It comes from the wedding ceremonies of Kujawy. The folk names of this dance are sleepy and cradled. The oldest study of kujawiak comes from around 1830. Well-known studies by Henryk Wieniawski. Music in kujawiak is lyrical and moody, often in minor tone. Some say that the melody of this dance reflects the Kujawy landscape, which is wide and calm. The dance moves are slow, sliding, and the pairs calmly turn and sway slightly.
